How will Switzerland’s climate look in future?

Climate scenarios show how the climate might develop on average. But reality rarely sticks to the average. It’s the extreme events – significantly above or below that average – that bring unpredictable and sometimes irreversible consequences for the environment and society.

So what does that mean for Switzerland? For its mountains, forests, and agriculture?
And for you?

Short answer:
We’re screwed.

Long answer: It’s not that bad – yet. It’s complicated. And it depends:
What do we even mean by 'extreme'?

This website offers a glimpse into the impacts of different climate scenarios over the next 20 years – from the global warming we can already feel today, to what is predicted on average, to what could happen under extreme conditions.
Explore for yourself just how extreme things could get.
